'The Wedding Singer' was a wonderful marriage of song, dance and comedy

Big, bold and brilliant! The Sixth Form production of The Wedding Singer took its audience back to the 80s with a vengeance. Complete with huge hair, shiny suits and cell phones the size of bricks, the cast sang, danced and acted their leg warmers off to tell, hilariously, a timeless tale of true love winning out after many trials and tribulations.

Expert direction from Miss Stacey Williams, Woldingham’s Director of Drama, saw everyone play their part to perfection. With more than 30 cast members ‘doing their thing’ onstage there was so much to enjoy. The audience’s obvious delight when lead characters Robbie and Julia (brilliantly played by Ava and Liv) finally got together clearly showed how engaged in the story everyone was.

Congratulations to everyone involved, onstage and backstage, for a production which dazzled like the glittering pyrotechnics at the end of the show.

Everyone demonstrated that the show must always go on after an unexpected injury to Julia (Liv) at the end of the first act on Thursday. Liv showed courage and confidence by completing the second half from a wheelchair, superbly supported by the cast and crew.
