Mamma Mia-themed Stuart celebrations go with a swing

Mamma Mia-themed Stuart celebrations go with a swing

22 November 2023

Miss Annabel Bond, Head of Stuart House

On Monday 20 November, staff and students of Stuart House gathered to celebrate our House Feast. The theme was Mamma Mia! and Stuart brought the Grecian sun to Woldingham with amazing ABBA inspired outfits and, of course, singing.

First, we gathered for Mass in the Chapel to celebrate the life of our wonderful House patron, Janet Stuart. Fleur, our Sacred Heart Ribbon and member of Stuart, organised a lovely service, which was led by Fr Gerry and included readings from House Captains Belle and Sophie and music from our choir members.

We then headed to Marden Dining Hall, which had been transformed with Greek bunting, plenty of balloons, inflatable musical instruments and, of course, ABBA tunes. The catering team had prepared some delicious Greek dishes, and everyone enjoyed their food whilst completing some Mamma Mia quizzes. Towards the end of the evening the Sixth Form kicked off ABBA karaoke, closely followed by staff. The karaoke closed with a sing off between the year groups, with each year trying to sing its section of Mamma Mia the loudest. There are plenty of karaoke (and dancing) queens among us!

Thank you so much to Fr Gerry, the amazing catering team and everyone who made the evening such a fun event.
