Great team spirit and sporting successes on Year 8 hockey and netball tour

7 February 2023

Lara H, Year 8

Last weekend, 25 of us in Year 8 had an amazing time on our hockey and netball tour in Ascot. We set off from school on Friday 3 February ready to play our best. Everyone was very excited and there was a really good team spirit.

On arrival, we went straight away to play hockey against Leighton Park School.  All three Woldingham teams played really well, winning two games and losing one.

After the matches, we checked into our hotel and then went off to Zizzi for supper.  Everyone was hungry and we all ate a lot and had fun!

The next day we got up early and headed back to Leighton Park School, this time to play netball. We won all three games and enjoyed some match tea before heading to our next opposition, Heathfield School, for more netball. These matches were a bit more challenging, but we had two wins and one loss.

Back at our hotel, we had a couple of hours to relax before heading off for some ten-pin bowling in Ascot, followed by a delicious dinner at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Everyone had such a good time.

On Sunday, our last day, we played hockey against St Mary’s School Ascot, where we drew one game and lost two. St Mary’s gave us a delicious lunch after which we headed back to Woldingham.

During three exciting days, we played six hockey matches and six netball games against three different schools.  Of the 12 matches, which were across all teams, A, B and C, Woldingham won seven, drew one and lost four.  We are all so thankful to Miss Arch, Mrs Treacy and Mrs Wratten, who organised the trip and looked after us.
