Lower Sixth art students develop dark room skills

28 September 2022

Miss Siobhan Campbell, Head of Art

Our Lower Sixth art students developed new skills with professional artist and photographer, and former Woldingham teacher, Marie Connery on Wednesday 28 September, using the fantastic facility of the Art Department’s own dark room.

The workshop aimed to teach students traditional photographic techniques, give them the confidence to work independently and to break the rules to create personal responses. During the day, students were encouraged to engage with the process in a practical way, fostering an understanding and appreciation of photographic skills and the opportunities offered for creativity.

The students responded enthusiastically to the session and are now brimming with ideas to use in their personal work. Having developed their own photographs and photograms, students will now embark on making their own pinhole camera and processing their photos in our dark room.
