Woldingham students achieve outstanding GCSE results

25 August 2022

As Woldingham celebrates its 180th anniversary, the school’s Year 11 students are today celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results, with six students achieving 9s in at least 10 subjects.

‘I am so very proud of all of our students who sat GCSE exams this year. They achieved a fantastic set of results across the board from Art to Physics and Latin to History. The results in Triple Science, English Language and French were particularly impressive. I am delighted that so many of the leading students among our Year 11s are staying on to Sixth Form as usual, including those who excelled in this year’s GCSE exams.  As a year group, they have worked so very hard with the support and expertise of Woldingham staff. While success in exams is important, opening doors to excellent universities and exciting careers, an education at Woldingham is so much more. With a choice of more than 80 clubs and societies each week, West End-worthy drama productions and a huge range of sporting opportunities, at Woldingham our aim is to enable students to #WriteYourOwnStory, becoming confident, compassionate and courageous young women’ said Dr James Whitehead, Woldingham Head.

Mr Chris Kellaway, Head of Year 11 added: ‘It was such a privilege and pleasure to be Head of Year for this very special group of students. Alongside their GCSEs, Year 11 students have represented their country, region, county and school in sport fixtures, completed Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s awards, excelled in instrumental, drama and singing exams and raised money for House charities. As they move into the Sixth Form, I know they will continue to thrive, give back to their community and achieve their academic potential, to become young women who will make a positive impact on their, and our, world.’
