Girls’ cricket triumphs at inaugural Junior Cricket Tournament

24 May 2022

Mr Gary Outram, Head of Cricket Development

Well done to Hill House’s team for winning Woldingham’s inaugural Junior Cricket Tournament on Tuesday 17 May – though girls’ cricket itself was also a winner on a great afternoon of sport.

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, it was a pleasure to host Year 5 pupils from Essendene Lodge, Godstone Primary, St Francis’ Primary and Hill House in a competition giving them a great opportunity to put their cricket training into practice with real games and, of course, to have fun.

Not only did the girls play some excellent cricket, they also demonstrated superb sportsmanship and new friends were made by all. Mr Allberry, Miss Arch, Mr Ladd-Gibbon and I were very impressed by their attitude and desire to listen, learn and improve.

After the tournament, there was time for a game of Kwik Cricket on the tennis courts involving brothers, sisters, mums, and dads, which was also a thriller.

This was a highly enjoyable afternoon. We look forward to hosting further similar tournaments soon.
