Students celebrate first Holy Communion on Good Shepherd Sunday

10 May 2022

Fr Gerry Devlin, Chaplain

On Sunday 8 May, Manoli, Emma and Lourdes celebrated their first Holy Communion. In the school Chapel the students were joined by family and friends and the Mass was live streamed so that other family members could be part of this lovely celebration. The students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday 4 May and we have all been meeting regularly in the Sacramental preparation group since January.

It was a joyful and uplifting liturgy and after Mass we were able to join together in the Stephens Room for a celebration with family, students and staff.

Please keep the students in your prayers as they continue their own personal journey in faith.

The Mass was celebrated on Good Shepherd Sunday, for which Pope Francis chose the theme “Called to build the human family”, reminding us that we are called to be guardians of one another and creation.  Pope Francis went on to say, “We are like the tiles of a mosaic, each is lovely in itself, but only when they are put together do they form a lovely picture,” a reminder to all of us that we journey together to give the very best of ourselves in building a better future.
