Successes in hockey, fencing and karate round off an excellent term of sport

9 December 2021

Mrs Caroline Treacy, Director of Sport

Congratulations to Year 11s Immy D and Cara W, who have been selected for the Surrey county hockey squad. Both played against Ashford School in Kent on Saturday 4 December, a new addition to our fixture list this season.  The standard of hockey from both schools was superb. The 1st XI won 2-0, with goals from Florence, Upper Sixth and Alex S, Lower Sixth. The team performance was outstanding and a great way to finish the term. The U15s lost 1-0 in a very closely contested match.

Among the goal scorers in the U14 team’s excellent 3-2 win against Ashford was sport scholar Lea, Year 9, who took part in her first fencing competition the following day. Lea did brilliantly in the U15 mixed category, coming away with a bronze medal at an event organised by Inspion Sports, which runs our extra-curricular fencing programme.  In a packed sporting weekend, Lea also competed in the online Slovakia Karate Open and was delighted to win a silver medal.
