Senior Medical Society sets up junior version and raises money for Charing Cross Hospital

9 December 2021

Alongside their studies, members of Woldingham’s Senior Medical Society have made time this term to set up and run a junior version for students in Years 9 to 11 and raise money for an organisation very close to their hearts, as Nicola explains below.

Nicola, Upper Sixth

The Senior Medical Society ran a ‘Pie the Teacher’ charity event on Wednesday 24 November to raise money for the A&E department of Charing Cross Hospital. We are pleased to report this raised £70 and we would like to thank Miss Gallagher, six very game teachers and Junior Medical Society members for their great contribution.

In total we have donated £270 to Charing Cross Hospital since launching this project during lockdown last year.  We wanted to support the NHS because of the pressure the pandemic has put on it. We decided to support Charing Cross Hospital because of its vital A&E unit.

Upper Sixth Senior Medical Society members also set up the Junior Medical Society this term, running weekly Wednesday lunchtime sessions. Two school nurses gave inspiring talks and we have enjoyed giving presentations to younger students on topics such as memory and mitochondria in disease.
