Workshop and webinars inform students’ university choices

30 September 2021

Miss Jamie Gallagher, Director of Higher Education & Careers

Upper Sixth students took part in subject-specific personal statement workshops on Thursday 30 September to support them in their university applications. The workshops were run by Kai Feltham from Lancaster University, who delved into their writing style, challenges faced, evidence of skills and their passions and reasons for pursuing their chosen course.  Students received personalised feedback and discussed and debated areas of their statement in small groups.

On the previous evening, many Year 11, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth students and parents attended the ‘Meet the Russell Group Virtual Fair’. This free event, featuring all 24 Russell Group Universities, comprised 13 interactive webinars and virtual campus tours. Its aim was to support students in making informed decisions about their post-18 options and it provided students with information on how to construct a personal statement, the benefits of an EPQ, advice on studying at Oxford or Cambridge, medicine, employability links, studying in London and student life. All the webinars were recorded for watching on demand after the event.
