Students celebrate First Holy Communion at last Sunday’s Mass

1 July 2021

Fr Gerry Devlin, Chaplain

Our final Sunday Mass of the academic year on 27 June was a very special occasion for Year 7 students Beatrice, Rose, Ruby and Sophia, and Tess, the daughter of a member of staff, as they celebrated their First Holy Communion in the school Chapel. Due to COVID restrictions, the girls could only have a few family members with them, but it was a happy and joyful celebration.

The students have been meeting regularly in their sacramental preparation classes and sisters Rose and Beatrice expressed a lovely reflection on the day when they wrote, “We would like to thank you, Fr Gerry, for welcoming us into the Church. We really enjoyed the first communion classes and thank you for making our Holy Communion so special.”

I would like to thank all the girls for their hard work in preparing for the reception of the sacrament. It was a privilege to work closely with them.  I would ask members of the Woldingham community to remember them in your prayers as they continue on their individual journey in faith.
