Fantastic first face-to-face Thinking Big talk of 2021 from Jemima

17 March 2021

We’ve been extremely lucky to have enjoyed a superb series of online Woldingham Talks in our #VirtualValley this year, but it was a real pleasure on Friday 12 March when Jemima was able to give her Thinking Big talk in person to an audience of fellow Lower Sixth Formers.

Jemima spoke on the topic: “Do businesses really care about going carbon neutral or is it a marketing ploy?” After explaining what carbon neutral means and the process by which it can be achieved, Jemima took her audience through some well-researched case studies looking at businesses which she assesses are living up to their carbon neutral promises and others which are not. Clearly passionate about sustainability, Jemima conclusion was that, while progress is being made, achieving a carbon neutral position is a long and complex journey and one that businesses need to commit to now.

Jemima’s excellent talk was filmed for students in other years and staff to watch later. By the following Monday it had been viewed more than 50 times.
