Goals in sight in the Lockdown Landmark Challenge

Miss Lizzie Fearnley & Miss Gabriella Light, Sports Graduates

The PE department’s Lockdown Landmark Challenge has been a great motivator for students and staff to run, cycle or walk the distance from Woldingham to a destination of their choice during the national lockdown.

Since the challenge was launched last month, we’ve enjoyed keeping track of everyone’s progress. A number of students are getting close to reaching (virtually) their important landmark, including Livvy in Year 8, who is walking to Dover (117km), Lily-Mae, also in Year 8, whose running shoes will take her to the Isle of Wight before long, and Isobel, Year 7, who is heading for the ExCeL Centre in London by a combination of walking and running.

Another student well on the way to her landmark, Southampton (120.5km), is Drama Ribbon Grace, who has also used the challenge to raise a fantastic £175 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

From the PE department, Mrs Treacy is aiming for Chancellor’s School, Miss Arch’s target is Hope House Hospice and Miss Light’s goal is Loughborough University and all are well on their way to their challenge location.

It has been great to see the stretching targets participants have set themselves and the efforts they are putting in. We’ve had fun keeping in contact with them as we track their progress and it’s clear that everyone is really enjoying this lockdown challenge.

Well done everyone on a fantastic effort!
