A triumph of talent and technology

A triumph of talent and technology

8 December 2020

The show must go on and on Wednesday 2 December it did just that as this this year’s Autumn Concert became a virtual event, streamed to family and friends near and far, in the UK and overseas. Our talented musicians performed a variety of pieces, from Lalo Schifrin’s Mission Impossible Theme to Vivaldi’s Trio Sonata in B Flat Major, in year bubble duets, small ensembles and choirs. The concert culminated with a number of bubbles sharing the auditorium stage to form the Distanced Choir, which beautifully sang Set Me As A Seal, by Bruce Tippette, and the Distanced Orchestra, which struck a seasonal note with lovely excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

In his invitation to the concert, Director of Music Mr John Hargreaves explained that the theme of the concert was community and how we have found ways to come together in these unusual times. The hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of more than 70 musicians, our Music department and theatre team brought hundreds of members of the Woldingham community together, albeit virtually, to enjoy this triumph of talent and technology.
