Year 11 students become Sixth Formers for a day

24 November 2020

Mr Phil Abbott, Head of Sixth Form

On Friday 13 November, our Year 11 students enjoyed a first-hand taste of the Sixth Form at Woldingham. They swapped school uniform for a smart suit and relished the opportunity of a drink in the much-coveted Sixth Form coffee bar before heading off to try out five A Levels lessons, which they had chosen from the wide range of 27 subjects Woldingham offers. Whether discovering how their existing subjects will challenge and excite them at A Level, or trying out entirely new ones, like economics, psychology and history of art, there was a real buzz of excitement about what the future holds for them in the Sixth Form. Students also watched an entertaining video tour of Sixth Form houses Berwick and Shanley made by current residents, who would have been delighted to show Year 11 around in person had COVID-19 restrictions allowed. Finally, house dogs Doris and Bob stole the show, visiting the auditorium with their owners, Sixth Form Housemistresses Mrs Mason and Mrs Wiseman, who talked about our superb Sixth Form facilities and pastoral care.
