Social distancing no barrier to Upper Sixth networking

Social distancing no barrier to Upper Sixth networking

15 October 2020

On Tuesday 13 October, half our Upper Sixth gathered in small groups for our first virtual networking event. Replacing the usual format of a hotel-style breakfast in the Stephens Room with face-to-face networking, four external guests talked to each of the small groups of Upper Sixth students over Teams about their experience and careers to educate and inspire students as they prepare to leave Woldingham next year.

Throughout the event students were able to quiz our guests, each from different business areas, to learn as much as they could about their experience and hear their advice about starting on the career ladder. Students posed some great questions and took to the new world of remote networking like ducks to water.

The other half of the Upper Sixth will get its opportunity to experience a similar session with different guests on Tuesday 10 November at 8.15am.

Thank you to parents John Barry, who is a non-executive director, and chief financial officer, Peter Van Tiggelen, alumna Katie Worlledge who works in renewable energy and external guest Liz Hinchley, human resources professional, for taking part. Thanks also to IT Director Paul Ireland for overcoming the technical challenges and to Mrs Chambers, Mrs Mair and Mrs Hogben for organising the event.
