In a video made for our recent virtual open morning, Deputy Head Girl, and boarder since Year 9, Misan described Woldingham as her "home away from home" and our Year 7 boarders and those who have recently joined Year 8 have been settling in well to their new surroundings during September. Marden Housemistress Ms Susanne Kuster is delighted to share the news that “the girls have quickly adapted into their routine of living communally and we feel like one big happy family".
Although Woldingham’s usual programme of weekend trips is temporarily on hold due to COVID-19, our boarders have been making great use of Woldingham’s 700-acre surroundings, going on nature walks and doing a "scavenger hunt". As well as asking them to find “five leaves that look different”, “something yellow” and “a rock with spots,” the hunt tasked them with counting the animals they saw, which may have taken a while if they were near the cows’ field, or if our numerous rabbits were out and about at the time.
Our Marden boarders have had time to enjoy their existing hobbies, such as photography and art, as well as the opportunity to try new activities including film acting, which is their ‘Saturday Active’ session in this half of term. Who knows, one or more may find they have a real talent and passion for this and will follow in the footsteps of Woldingham alumnae Carey Mulligan, Emma Corrin and Vivien Leigh!
