Congratulations to Sixth Formers Sophie and Misan who did extremely well in prestigious essay competitions in recent months.
Lower Sixth Former Sophie won second prize in the Cambridge Summer School Essay Competition. Sophie chose to address the English Literature topic, entitled “Literature is elitist. Do you agree?” Sophie was awarded a partial scholarship to take part in the English Literature programme with Immerse Education in 2021.
Deputy Head Girl Misan entered the R A Butler Prize for essays in Politics and International Studies, jointly organised by Trinity College Cambridge and Cambridge University’s Department of Politics and International Studies. Misan’s essay made the longlist of best essays and the judges commented that it drew on “an impressively diverse and well-selected set of examples to make a balanced and interesting argument”.
