Virtual tour around the year groups – week 8

19 June 2020

This week Year 7s are hosting ‘virtual’ Grandparents’ Tea Parties and we’re looking forward to hearing how they went in next week’s Wold. If any Year 7 students are short of inspiration for their tea, they need to look no further than the Year 9 cookbook compiled by students and tutors over recent weeks. Cakes and cookies can be found in this culinary journey around every course and across many corners of the globe. You can view or download the cookbook here.

Year 9 students have been busy with one-to-ones with their tutors discussing targets from exams and reports. And, following last week’s THRIVE session with Mrs Haythorne, they have been actively focusing on having a ‘growth mindset’. In something a little more light-hearted, this week’s Year 9 assembly included a series of individual presentations with students discussing anything from their dog to how to spot a dangerous snake…

On Friday 19 June, Year 10 students have the exciting opportunity of their first Sixth Form Taster Day. The day includes Mr Abbott, Head of Sixth Form, talking about the stimulating difference of Sixth Form life  and a panel of Upper Sixth students able to answer any burning questions students have. This Taster Day aims to  whet their appetite before a second session in Year 11 when they will be able to experience A Level lessons.

And finally, we had a first this week when the Head Girl Team took over the school’s Instagram feed for the day. The team produced a great video, with contributions from students and teachers about Black Lives Matter. Look out for more from the Head Girl Team, who will be posting every lunchtime until the end of term on the school’s Instagram account from 12.30 to 13.30. The team will share some of the things it will focus on over the coming year.
