Thoughts on a successful, but strange, first week of summer term 2020

23 April 2020

The Heads of Years 9, 10 and 11 share news and their thoughts from the first week of the most unusual of summer terms.

Mr Chris Kellaway

Year 9 students focused on the importance of sleep in their tutor groups this week and asking for help was their main target set by me in my remote assembly. Learning how to learn remotely was a great challenge for all. We all need to ask for help to get by in learning a new skill and in life!

Mrs Sarah Norman

Year 10 students have settled in amazingly to ‘virtual life at Woldingham’. It has been so lovely to see their faces and enjoy the excitement of us all being together again, albeit remotely. Tutors have really enjoyed seeing their tutees, ensuring they are ready to tackle the exciting virtual world ahead! I have been super impressed with how the year group has adapted this week to their new style of learning and have had some lovely feedback from subject teachers.

Mr Terry Nunes

What a whirlwind start to the summer term at Woldingham for us in Year 11. Despite the uncertainty surrounding remote learning, it was with immense joy and enthusiasm from staff and students that tutor sessions kicked off Tuesday morning. These guided students through our Year 11 summer term programme and were followed by a Year assembly from me. This was filmed in front of Main House. I know seeing familiar surroundings was very emotional for many of the students. I want to wish all of Year 11 a successful and enjoyable summer term ahead.
