Bright future for U12 netballers and bronze for Charlotte in English cross country

Bright future for U12 netballers and bronze for Charlotte in English cross country

24 March 2020

On Saturday 14 March, Sixth Former Charlotte Alexander secured a fantastic third place in the senior girls race at the English Schools Cross Country Championships. The race took place at Sefton Park, Liverpool, and Charlotte’s podium position was all the more fantastic as she has only recently recovered from two significant injuries.

On Thursday 12 March our U12A netball team competed in the County Finals tournament at East Grinstead, having qualified at last month’s preliminary tournament.

The team’s first match, against Guildford High, was a close one, with Woldingham just losing 3-4. They then went on to secure wins against Croydon High and JAGS, coping extremely well with the pressure of the competition. Having been level with Wimbledon High at half time in the fourth match, the opposition finally took it. Their final opposition was Surbiton High. This was another very close contest, with Surbiton snatching a one goal victory just ahead of the final whistle.

Teacher of PE Miss May is delighted with her U12 netball squad, commenting: 'Congratulations to the U12A team for rising to the challenge and pressure of the County Finals. All of our U12 players deserve to be congratulated on their outstanding results this season. The A, B and C teams have all remained undefeated this season in all their inter-school matches. In the District competitions the B team were runners up in the District Cup and the C team won the District Shield. They have all worked with tremendous enthusiasm, focus and effort since September and thoroughly deserve these achievements.'
