V&A exhibition stimulates ideas for textile projects

10 March 2020

Mrs Lucy Darby, Teacher of Art

A Level students studying Textiles had a fantastic time at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Monday 9 March. They visited the "Wonderful Things" exhibition of the work of fashion photographer Tim Walker. The exhibition features 10 major new photographic projects, directly influenced by treasures in the V&A's vast collection. Artefacts sit centre stage in a series of immersive, fantastical worlds demonstrating how Walker has responded to the wonderful objects in the museum. The students also drew from the fabulous resources in the museum to inspire them with ideas for their current projects, from drawings of Samurai warrior armour to classical stone sculptures. It will be fascinating to see their projects develop over the coming weeks in response to this trip.
