Virtuoso performances inspire music students

25 November 2019

A spellbound audience of students and staff were wowed by virtuoso performances from London-based Taiwanese violinist Yu-Mien Sun, accompanied by pianist and Woldingham’s Co-ordinator of Instrumental Music Ruth Wang, at a lunchtime recital on Friday 22 November. Sun and Ruth were students together and both graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Sun also studied at the Royal Academy of Music and plays a violin by Hieronymus Amati c.1710 on loan.

Sun and Ruth played a range of pieces by Korngold, Cesar Frank and John Williams. Ms Wang introduced each of the pieces to give context and insight. This was especially helpful for students studying GCSE and A Level music.
