Woldingham community rallies round for Fishlake

12 December 2019

In mid November, Mrs Vicky Panagiotidou, Year 11 Assistant Housemistress and Head of Swimming, suggested, as a school, we offer help to those affected by the serious flooding in Fishlake, near Doncaster.  “After getting agreement from Mrs Hutchinson, I got in touch with Doncaster Council to find out which items were most needed. I then contacted the Woldingham community to suggest staff and girls donate one item from the list which included: clothes, cleaning products, medical supplies or long life food.”

In true Woldingham spirit, the response was overwhelming - our girls, parents and staff exceeded all expectations.  The Community Ribbons, other Sixth Formers and some Year 11 students helped pack the donations into around 70 boxes. These were delivered to the collection centre in Doncaster on Tuesday 10 December by Mrs Hooper and her husband, Paul, where they were very gratefully received.  One staff member told Mrs Hooper that he couldn’t believe people so far away would do something so exceptionally kind.

Thank you to everyone who assisted on this project and helped make a difference to people who find themselves in very difficult circumstances.
