10 December 2019

Robert Parkinson, Chair of Governors, issued a letter on Friday 6 December with news that Headmistress Mrs Alex Hutchinson is to leave Woldingham School next summer having been appointed Head of James Allen’s Girls’ School from September 2020.  Mrs Hutchinson joined Woldingham as Deputy Head in January 2015 and was appointed Headmistress in September 2016.

Robert Parkinson said: ‘This appointment is testament to Alex’s highly successful tenure here at Woldingham, where she has grown and developed into a first-class Head. Alex has done much for the school in her time here and we are grateful to her for her exceptional contribution. The Board of Governors is now starting the process to recruit an outstanding new Head for Woldingham at this exciting time in its development.’

Alex Hutchinson added: ‘I will be so sad to leave Woldingham. It is a fantastic school and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with such a wonderful group of talented, caring and positive students. Woldingham truly has the brightest of futures ahead of it. The outstanding teaching, residential and support teams at the school will continue to provide an exceptional education for our students. The incoming Head will work closely with our strong and committed School Leadership Team to deliver the next phase of the School Strategic Development Plan and our unique ethos, based on our Sacred Heart heritage, will continue to shine through. I leave Woldingham in safe hands and have no doubt the position will attract a very strong field of candidates for the Headship. My time as Headmistress has been both a joy and a privilege and Woldingham’s ethos will stay with me forever.’
