On Thursday 5 December, Mardeners showed themselves to be in fine voice as they entertained guests from local residential homes with a selection of carols and festive songs.
Once everyone was settled with tea and cake, proceedings began with a performance of All I Want For Christmas Is You by Year 8s Oksana, Sephora, Ava and Alana. With the whole of Year 7 arrayed around three sides of the Goddard Room, guests next enjoyed a lovely ‘surround sound’ rendition of Silent Night, Away In A Manger and O Come All Ye Faithful – many joining in.
The girls then took a break from singing to meet and greet their guests and the Goddard Room quickly filled with smiles, handshakes and happy, intergenerational chatter.
A little later, again accompanied on keyboard by Co-ordinator of Instrumental Music Ruth Wang, the girls sang Woldingham favourite, The Twelve Days of Christmas, as well as Once In Royal David's City, We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Joy To The World. And it was indeed a joyful morning for all involved.
