Prestigious National Youth Theatre Course for Grace

3 July 2019

Year 11’s Grace will take part in the National Youth Theatre (NYT) Backstage Course (Sound Design & Composition) in August. Places for these prestigious courses are much sought after and Grace’s success at interview means she will be taught by top industry professionals on the three-week course; as well as a deep-dive into her chosen specialism, sound, Grace will get a taster of all of the technical disciplines of theatre, and the course will culminate with her putting her new skills into practice, collaborating with her peers to put on a production.

After successfully completing her course, Grace will be a Backstage Member of the National Youth Theatre and will have the opportunity to work on their season shows. In recent years, members have had the opportunity to build up their CVs by working on shows including the NYT’s REP Seasons in the West End, the Team Welcome Ceremonies at the Commonwealth Games, and some overseas projects.

As far as Grace is concerned, this is her greatest achievement. Her love of theatre, backstage and particularly sound has grown whilst at Woldingham, with the encouragement, guidance and instruction given to her by Mr Brown, whilst working on around 14 school productions.
