Sport Round Up

22 May 2019

Last Saturday we hosted our first Invitational Cricket Tournament. Six prep schools, Thomas’s Battersea, Thomas’s Fulham, Glendower, Broomwood Hall, Downsend and Holy Cross, fielded 11 teams in total and the standard of play was high. In the U10 group, the final was between Holy Cross and Thomas’s Battersea, with Holy Cross taking victory. The U11 group was played as a round robin and again, after some excellent displays of cricket, Holy Cross emerged as winners. This was fitting tribute to their teacher, who played cricket on the same pitches when she was at school at Woldingham in the 1980s. Huge congratulations to all who took part.

In other sporting news, our U14 and U15 Athletics teams both came third at the K2 District Championships and our U12 and U13 teams had their first meet, with excellent performances across the board. Ten Woldingham athletes have been selected to represent South Surrey at the County Finals in June.

In our own cricket fixtures, there have been wins for U12, U13, U14 and U15 against Croydon High, RAAS and The Hawthorns and, in rounders, I'm very pleased to report that our U15 and U16 teams both won their District competitions to be crowned District Champions.
