On Wednesday, Mrs Chambers, Head of Higher Education and Careers, and I accompanied 21 Lower Sixth students to BlueCrest Capital Management’s offices in London for a bespoke Open Day; this had been designed to give them a taste of working in finance and investment, courtesy of Mr Peter Cox, BlueCrest’s COO, and Woldingham parent. The day was brilliantly organised by BlueCrest’s HR team and the students enjoyed presentations and interactive sessions with a number of different departments. They scored extremely well in the opening financial news quiz (better than a notable boys’ school who also visited recently!), interacted with the speakers and asked some fantastic questions. Everyone was on a real high by the end of the day and the hands shot up when asked if they would consider a career in finance. Thank you to everyone at BlueCrest for organising such an interesting and insightful day and well done to our students, who should be very proud of themselves.
