Julia Wins 2019 Prix de la Paix

27 March 2019

The annual French essay competition, Prix de la Paix, was won this year by Julia, Upper Sixth. The prize is awarded by the Rotary Club of Caterham for an essay written in French; this year the topic was about international espionage and whether it is necessary to maintain world peace (Lʼespionnage international est-il nécessaire pour maintenir la paix mondiale?).

Claude Bertin from Caterham Rotary, who judged the essays, commented on the excellent standard of French demonstrated by all the Woldingham students and said that he had to be quite strict about minor errors as the level of French was so high. He complimented the girls on their different views and arguments, their original ideas and depth of knowledge on this difficult topic.
