Stuart House raises funds for Shooting Star Chase

28 September 2017

House Captains, Sophie and Elise, presented Shooting Star Chase Fundraiser Ellie Christianson with a cheque for £4,135 on behalf of Stuart House at their assembly last week. This impressive sum was raised through numerous events, including pizza and cake sales, Krispy Kreme & Millie Cookies sales, activity days (Party on the Pitches), the Sponsored Walk - and also by means of very generous donations from parents at last year's Christmas Carol service.

Girls and staff from Stuart House listened to Ellie’s moving presentation about the wonderful work the charity does in Surrey and West London, caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. And Ellie explained how the money the girls had raised could, for example, pay for two years’ worth of supplies used by the charity's complementary therapists on sessions offered alongside counselling for bereaved parents, or families whose child has recently been diagnosed. Or for four 'sibling days' which help brothers and sisters to cope with the loss of a sibling, interacting with peers who have been through the same experience, in a fun and safe environment.
