Seraphina, Upper Sixth
The Sixth Form Women of Woldingham society (WoW) recently ran our first ever WoW Week, with the goal of raising money and awareness for important women’s charities and issues.
The week was filled with fun activities and bake sales, organised and run entirely by members of the Upper Sixth. In the middle of the week, we held an ‘all-pink’ day, where students came to school dressed in pink outfits, accessories and a lot of face paint, donating a pound for Coppafeel – a charity aimed at spreading awareness for the symptoms of breast, cancer among women. At lunchtime, a very pink crowd gathered to watch and support an Upper Sixth vs Lower Sixth football match – with the Lower Sixth emerging victorious, 5-1.
Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes were taken up by very successful bake sales, which included ‘WoW’ cookies and cupcakes to raise money for Ask for Angela, a UK safeguarding initiative. On Friday, students across all year groups came together to ‘pie’ teachers with whipped cream. This proved to be a very popular event, which raised money for ActionAid – a charity which helps women in disaster zones, sending money, sanitary products and other resources to them.
WoW Week kicked off the new school year in a fun, positive way that rallied the Woldingham community in support of women in the UK and across the globe. It was great!
