Excellent GCSE results for Woldingham girls, with over 60% of grades at 9-7

Woldingham School’s Year 11 students are celebrating today with excellent results across the board.

Results in English, Geography, Computer Science, Art, Design Technology and Music were particularly impressive. As at A Level, Art results were superb with 84% of grades 9 or 8 and almost half of English Literature grades achieved by the whole year group were either 9 or 8.  More than 80% of Music and Computer Science results, three quarters of grades for Geography and over 70% of grades for Design Technology and History were 9–7.

Once again, we are delighted with their ‘value added’ scores with students achieving an overall average of more than half a grade higher than predicted.

There were some excellent individual results with four students achieving nine or more GCSEs at grade 9 or 8. Our small cohort of one-year GCSE students performed extremely well with Icing achieving four grade 9s and Annie three grade 9s in just one year at Woldingham.

Mr Gary Outram, Head of Year 11, said: “What a joy it is to celebrate our students’ really great set of GCSE results. I am incredibly proud of every student in this year group, not only for the results they have achieved, but for the young women they have become and the way they have supported and encouraged one another throughout. It has been a privilege to lead such a wonderful year group.

As they move into Sixth Form, I have every confidence that they will embrace the opportunities ahead and go on to achieve extraordinary things. I wish them every happiness, success and fulfilment for the future."

Sue Baillie, Head, added: “I am delighted for all the girls that sat GCSEs this year, who are today enjoying a great set of results. Once again, it is a testament to the nurture and uniqueness of the Woldingham experience that they have navigated the challenge of GCSEs so successfully. With the vast majority continuing their educational journey here at Woldingham, these students have much to look forward to as our new Lower Sixth in September. I am confident they will continue to thrive, excel academically and embrace all that Woldingham has to offer both inside and outside the classroom. Congratulations, girls!”
