Highly enjoyable Parent and Daughter Tournament concludes another successful term of tennis

6 July 2026

Mr Patrick Gorman and Mr Mark Love, Heads of Tennis

Despite being postponed for a week due to June’s heatwave, the majority of the original entrants in our Parent and Daughter Tennis Tournament were able to make the rearranged date of Wednesday 1 July. Happily, the weather was perfect and it was great to see 54 matches played in great spirit – some of them very hard fought!

The winning doubles pair in the Marden tournament was Saffi, Year 7, and her mum, with fellow Year 7 student Allegra and her dad runners up. In the senior tournament, top honours were taken by Emi in Year 10 and her dad, with fellow Year 10 student Lexi and her dad runners up.

Thank you to everyone who took part and to those who helped us organise this very enjoyable tournament. We’re already looking forward to next year.

The tournament concluded a busy, fun and successful summer term in the tennis department, with plenty of lessons, training and 37 matches in different competitions against other schools.

Among key achievements this term, Saffi and Allegra reached the U12 final of the Surrey Tennis Festival, finishing with a silver medal, while Zia and Amelia took bronze in the U18 competition. Our U12s and U18s also represented Woldingham brilliantly at the Surrey League quarterfinal stages. Although both squads’ journey ended there on this occasion, the girls should be very proud of all they have achieved in their tennis. The standard of the sport is extremely high in Surrey, and we have thoroughly enjoyed watching our players more than match this standard. Well done to both squads.
