Almost 30 students in Years 7 & 8 took to the auditorium stage at the Marden Sports Awards on Monday afternoon to be presented with an award by Miss Leach, Director of Sport, for achievements on the pitch, on the court and in the pool. 

Heads of Hockey, Netball, Swimming and Football – Mr Birtles, Miss Magee, Mrs Cornelius and Mrs Daley – talked about Marden students’ many achievements in their respective fields in 2026-2027, which included the U12 hockey squad reaching the Final Four of the Sisters in Sport Plate and swimming performances which contributed to Woldingham being confirmed as overall District League champions, before announcing this year’s awards for Coach’s Player and Players’ Player (see below for the full list of winners). The final award of the afternoon, Marden Sportswoman of the Year, was won by Allegra in Year 7, who, as well as excelling across a range of sports, Miss Leach described as super-committed, highly supportive of her teammates and someone who holds herself to very high standards. 

In her speech, Miss Leach told Marden students how impressed she has been by how ready they all are to try new things and to ‘get stuck in’ in games lessons, at afterschool clubs and on Saturdays. She also commended them for their incredible supportiveness of one another.
