U15 cricket squad crowned Surrey Indoor Cricket County Champions to cap a superb half term of sport

24 March 2026

Miss Jaclyn Leach, Director of Sport

It has been a very rewarding half-term of sport in which we have enjoyed some of our best ever results - we are delighted to see students’ hard work and commitment rewarded in such style.

Cricket

In the most spectacular news, our U15 cricket squad were crowned Surrey Indoor Cricket Country Champions, after a magnificent display at the County Final. Winning all matches in the group stages against Putney High, Gordon’s and Nonsuch, the girls progressed to the final, where they took on Putney once again. The team was set a very challenging 101 to beat and fought right to the end to take the game with a wicket in hand and an over to spare. The standard of sport in Surrey is so high that to now go on and represent Surrey as champions at the Regional Finals in May is a huge and well-deserved achievement. Very well done, girls – we are so proud of you! Very well done, girls – we are so proud of you!

There was success too for our U14 Indoor Cricket squad, who won a bronze medal at the MCC competition at Lord’s.

Hockey

Our U15 hockey players’ magnificent Sisters in Sport Cup journey of our U15 hockey players came to an end in the quarterfinals, with defeat to Queenswood. Arguably the better side at times, we just could not find the back of the net on this occasion. To get to the quarterfinals of a national cup is a stunning achievement. These girls are hungry for more and I am certain this is just a springboard for what is to come for these talented and committed players.

Swimming

It has been a brilliant season of swimming. In wonderful swimming news, our girls’ commitment across two terms has been rewarded with Woldingham being confirmed as overall District League champions, thanks to fantastic results from the District League galas. Year 7 and the Seniors finished in 1st place, and Years 8 & 9 finished in 2nd place (missing out on 1st place by just one point!). Very well done, everyone!

Our U18 swimmers also put an incredible display of swimming at the Bath Cup, held at the London Aquatics Centre on 6 March, finishing 21st in this very prestigious competition, with 70 schools taking part.

Football

Football continues to grow at Woldingham, with notable team and tournament success. The U13 team performed strongly at the District Tournament, earning a 1–1 draw against tough opposition. Fixtures across the half-term for our U12, U13 and U14 squads are showing strong evidence of improvement and teamwork, as well as tremendous joy!

Netball

Netball has seen fantastic levels of participation across all year groups and consistently strong performances. We have enjoyed regular wins across Senior 1st to 4th and U12-U15 A to D team, with teams across all year groups showing incredible resilience on a number of occasions, fighting through tough matches to either pip the win or experience narrow defeat. Senior success across the term has included wins against KCS, Wimbledon and Colfe’s. A particular highlight of the half-term was the U15 VII reaching the Surrey Finals. Against strong opposition, the team showed impressive spirit and strength on the day, as well as a renewed energy to repeat this feat – and more – next year.

A huge thank you to all our Upper Sixth netballers for their dedication to their sport.  We hope you have enjoyed your many years of sport here at Woldingham and look forward to hearing how you continue with your netball – as well as other sports – as you move onto the next stage of your lives.

As she prepares to hand the baton to her successor, Lily, our Sport Ribbon, shares her reflections on sport and the role she has performed so well over the past year.

Lily, Sport Ribbon 2025-2026

Being Sport Ribbon has been such a rewarding experience for me. It has allowed me to share my passion for sport with others and hopefully inspire more students to get involved. This role has taught me confidence, responsibility, and the importance of leading by example. I have felt proud to be part of something that brings people together and encourages everyone to do their best.

Sport is so much more than competition. It builds confidence by helping you believe in yourself and your abilities. It teaches teamwork by showing you how much can be achieved when people support one another. It also creates lasting friendships because the experiences you share through training, matches, and challenges bring people closer together.

I would especially encourage girls to be open to trying new sporting opportunities, such as football, cricket and open water swimming. It can feel intimidating to start something unfamiliar, but that is often where the most growth happens. Trying a new sport can be exciting, empowering, and a lot of fun. It is a chance to challenge yourself, make new friends, and discover what you are capable of.
