Sixth Form production of Little Shop of Horrors was ‘blooming brilliant’

5 December 2025

Step aside, Wicked, last month’s hottest, greenest musical in town was Woldingham’s production of Little Shop of Horrors, which told the tale of carnivorous plant Audrey II’s attempt at world domination.

In two fantastic performances on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November, audiences rooted for a happy ending to the blossoming love story between downtrodden floral assistant Seymour and his colleague Audrey – even while Seymour was feeding Audrey II with parts of deliciously dastardly dentist Orin. Sadly, the couple weren’t destined to live happily ever after ‘somewhere that’s green’ – instead, they too ended up inside Audrey II. Yet the monstrous plant was so entertainingly embodied by Head Girl Waishe, it was hard to begrudge her – and her energetic green-clad cuttings – their successful world takeover.

With such breadth and depth of talent in the Sixth Form, Director Miss Stacey Williams cast a different student in many of the leading roles for each night: Seymour was played by Norien and Immy; Audrey by Ottie and Annabelle; Mr Mushnik by Olivia and Grace; and Orin by Hannah and Ines – each one superb. As was the ‘Greek chorus’ of Nancy, Katherine, Charlotte, Ella and Lilico, our narrators for parts of the show, and Caitlin, who appeared as a variety of characters. Together with a fabulous ensemble, a talented technical crew, clever choreography and marvellous live music from our superb band, under the musical direction of Mr Hammond-Hall and Miss Wang, this made for a ‘killer’ production which will live long in the memory.

Director of Drama Miss Williams expressed her pride in everyone involved in the production, saying: “Directing Little Shop of Horrors was an absolute joy. The students never cease to amaze me with what they are capable of - this was a truly outstanding production. Forget the man-eating plant devouring the whole of Skid Row, it was our audiences who were completely devoured by the talent on show.”
