Mr Patrick O’Gorman and Mr Nick Love, Heads of Tennis
The sun shone brightly on this year’s extremely enjoyable parent and daughter tennis tournament on Wednesday 25 July. Around 120 competitive matches were played in very good spirit, with excellent tennis on show all round.
The winning doubles pair in the Marden tournament was Leila, Year 8, and her mum, Natasha, with fellow Year 8 student Amelia and dad Nick, runners-up. Liv, Lower Sixth, and dad James won the senior tournament, with Delphie, Year 9, and dad Lachlan runners-up.
It has been a busy, fun and successful summer term of tennis at Woldingham and we have enjoyed seeing how much the girls have learnt, whether playing in lessons, squads, school matches – more than 40 of which took place this term - or with friends.
Highlights from the many fixtures against other schools include the U13 team reaching the quarterfinals of the Surrey Youth Tennis League and our open team winning all but one match in the Surrey Schools Tennis League.
We hope our players get the chance to play some tennis during the summer holidays - and perhaps also enjoy watching the top professionals at work during the Wimbledon Championships.
