Miss Emma Williams, Teacher of Dance
Get Up & Dance on Tuesday 7 May was an exhilarating evening for everyone involved. As choreographer, I couldn’t be prouder of the 54 students from across the year groups who lit up the stage with energy, grace, and sheer passion. The recital showcased an extraordinary range of dance styles — from the elegance of ballet and expressive power of contemporary, to the dynamic edge of street dance.
Each performance reflected the commitment and creativity of our dancers, and it was a joy to see their hard work and enthusiasm shine through. Dance is becoming an increasingly vibrant part of the Woldingham community, not only as a co-curricular activity but now also as part of our academic curriculum, with our first cohort taking their GCSE Dance exams this year. This recital was a celebration of that growth and an exciting glimpse into a bright future for dance at Woldingham.
Some of that future has already arrived as we recently welcomed our very first Dance Ribbon, Ottie, who will represent and support dance across the school in the year ahead. Reflecting on the evening, Ottie said: “Being part of Get Up & Dance was such a special experience. Seeing students from every year group come together to perform with such passion and talent made me feel incredibly proud—and even more excited to take on this new role and help dance continue to thrive at Woldingham.”
