Students enjoy competition in the pool and match-winning times on the football pitch

10 May 2024

Cheering from the pool has been heard far and wide across the Woldingham valley recently, with House honours at stake in our annual swimming competition, while our Year 7 footballers (main photo) returned from last week’s national Go Bold Football Festival shield in hand.

Go Bold Football Festival success

Many congratulations to our Year 7 football team on an excellent 1-0 victory against Edgbaston School to win the Shield Competition at the Go Bold Football Festival, organised by the GSA (Girls’ Schools Association). Held in Warwick on Thursday 2 May, the competition involved schools from across the country.  Teacher of PE, Miss Daley, commented how wonderful it was to see so many girls out playing football, and how proud she is of the Woldingham team: Aayan, Ava, Bella, Elenia, Emily, Leila, Lila Beau, Rebecca, Sarah and Scarlett.

Mrs Tina Cornelius, Head of Swimming

What an incredible House Swimming Competition we had this year! In year groups, students were put through their paces, or rather, strokes, with 25m and 50m races in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, 25m butterfly, and both traditional (medley and freestyle) and untraditional (surfboard and noodle) relays. Our Year 7s also enjoyed some extra events, including a t-shirt race.

Huge congratulations to all our swimmers for their outstanding performances – they truly rocked the pool. It was a week filled with fast-paced races, thrilling finishes, and incredible displays of skill. Top honours this year go to Digby House, with Duchesne in second place, third place to Stuart and Barat, fourth.

A big shoutout to everyone who turned out to support our teams – your cheers and encouragement made all the difference.
