Students ‘Get Up & Dance’ with skill, style and passion

9 May 2024

A very appreciative auditorium audience was treated to 27 wonderful performances encompassing dance styles including ballet, commercial, contemporary, hip-hop, Irish, lyrical and musical theatre at our annual dance recital, Get Up & Dance, on Wednesday 8 May.

Students from Year 7 to Upper Sixth showcased their dance skills and passion through solos, duets and group numbers, many taking to the stage in multiple routines and expressing themselves in more than one dance style. A number of the pieces were choreographed by the students themselves. It was lovely to see students in different year groups dancing together and dancers with GCSE and A Level exams just around the corner immersed in the joy of performance.

A special mention for a dance recital first – a dramatic and powerful performance of a complex routine, “Female Soldiers”, by our Year 10 GCSE Dance cohort (main photo). Bravo! We know they – and hope everyone involved in this week’s recital – will “Keep dancing”!
