Our Department:

  • Supports students in becoming confident, independent learners and supports the development of ‘metacognitive’ skills (learning how to learn)
  • Monitors individual students’ progress through assessment, target setting, review and liaison with students, parents and staff
  • Provides individualised support programmes for students identified with SEN who may have a reduced curriculum
  • Advises and supports staff in helping them to enhance the teaching and learning of students with special/additional learning needs
  • Ensures that students requiring access arrangements in exams are identified as early as possible
