Stephanie Lai, a Year 10 student who plays the saxophone, won two classes at the Richmond upon Thames Performing Arts Festival in March. She took part in the Intermediate Recital class, playing the second and third movements of Scaramouche by Darius Milhaud, and the U15 Wind/Brass Own Choice class in which she played Aria by Eugene Bozza. The achievement is all the more creditable given the extremely high standard of all the entrants at the Festival, so Stephanie was up against some very stiff competition. As a result of entering these two classes she was eligible for one of the Grand Prizes, coming second for the Young Instrumentalist of the Year, winning a monetary prize and cup. She has been invited to return to perform in the Festival Showcase on 6 May.
