Marden is the home of Years 7 and 8. We know that moving to senior school is a big step, so we aim to make the transition as smooth as possible. In the warm, friendly and secure community of Marden House, girls settle quickly and make many new friends.  Marden is a nurturing environment that provides a solid foundation for the girls as they embark on their life in senior school. Marden is also home to the whole school dining room, so the youngest and most senior girls in the school mingle over breakfast, lunch and supper.

Girls are always excited as they arrive in our beautiful valley,  surrounded by green fields and woods with abundant wildlife. It is a very calming and inspiring setting in itself and a wonderful place to live, work and play.  There are exciting opportunities to develop individual interests and talents through the extensive co-curricular activities on offer. During the day, Day girls and Boarders socialise together in their common room.

The Pastoral team in Marden aim to nurture the girls in their care, foster good study habits and give guidance on personal growth and progress. Years 7 and 8 are grouped together in mixed tutor groups to help foster a sense of community. Year 8 students bring their own experience and mentor the younger students as they settle in. Sixth Form students act as ‘big sisters’ to the Marden girls and often arrange special activities for them in the adjacent Sixth Form Houses. The Marden Handbook provides further information.
