Art and Art Textiles are popular and thriving subjects which help students gain confidence and learn to express themselves visually and verbally, as well as providing pleasure and enjoyment.

Our art teachers are well-qualified specialists who teach a variety of disciplines including including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textile design, printmaking and photography.

The Art Department is housed in purpose-built accommodation. This comprises two studios (with mezzanine galleries for Sixth Form students) and a 3-D area equipped with a range of power tools and two kilns. Other specialist areas include a dark room and a textile room, equipped with knitting, sewing and embellishing machines. These activities are available to all girls as part of the co-curricular programme, regardless of whether they pursue Art as part of their academic studies.

At the end of the year our artwork is displayed in a large exhibition and a private view is organised. To view some of our art and classroom activity, please visit our blog.
