Students and staff at Woldingham School are celebrating another year’s superb crop of A level results, with a 100% pass rate across all subjects. These latest impressive figures continue the school’s excellent record and reveal that more than 84% of students achieved passes at A/B grades; 43% of candidates achieved three or more A grades, with 12 candidates achieving four or more A grades.

Woldingham students have performed exceptionally well in the traditionally more difficult subjects such as languages, the sciences and history. Mathematics is also particularly strong at Woldingham with 84% of students gaining A grades. In further mathematics the story is even more positive with 10 out of 11 students achieving A grades. Once again, our economics students shine with 100% pass at A - C grade. In addition, the geographers have excelled with 90% passes at A/B grades.

The continued high grades in these core subjects augurs well for the future and supports the widely held belief that girls achieve excellent results in a wider range of subjects in a single-sex environment.

In keeping with the Woldingham tradition of excellence in creative arts, 13 students achieved grade A in art, while, in theatre studies, girls achieved a 100% pass rate at A/B grades.

Particular highlights are: Charlotte Godfrey  who, with three A grades in history, biology and maths, is going on to study medicine at Imperial College; Marianne Parkinson, gained four A grades in history, French, English and Spanish, and will be going on to study English at Oxford; Louisa Taylor, whose three As, in biology, chemistry and art, take her to Nottingham to study veterinary science; Olivia Edgerton with three A grades in mathematics, further mathematics and economics who has been offered a place on the prestigious MORSE course (mathematics, operational research, statistics and economics)  at Warwick.

Headmistress Jayne Triffitt said: “I am absolutely delighted with the excellent results this year. They are a measure of the hard work and commitment of the girls, as well as the inspiration and dedication of our teaching staff.

“While we acknowledge the increasing importance of examination results, Woldingham School will continue to strive for excellence in all areas of school life. These results are all the more extraordinary given the very full life the girls lead at Woldingham with a packed diary of academic subjects, extra-curricular activities and trips.”

63.3% A grades

84.39% A and B grades
