Year 8 were chosen to take part and the students experienced a fun packed day of team building games, data collection, a locally sourced picnic lunch and an interesting talk by Mr Rob Luck from Tandridge District Council. The students collected the data by interviewing key members of the support staff and completing surveys around the school. This involved looking at the use of energy, food wastage, the recycling provision and the environmental quality of the school grounds. The students found out some very interesting information and worked diligently to collect all the facts and figures that they needed.

The data that they collected was then presented in graphical forms and an action plan for future improvements was created. The students concluded their day by creating an Eco-code for the school. The Eco-codes were then judged by Clemmie Pearce, a Sixth Form student who holds a position of responsibility on the Woldingham School Sustainability Group. She deemed the best Eco-Code to be C – H – A – N - G - E.   Cut costs by recycling. Help to save the environment by re-using materials. Always think before you throw items away. Never think that you cannot make a difference. Green is something we can all achieve. Everyone should work together to improve our environment.

Overall the day was a huge success and it is now hoped that we can take positive strides forward to improve the sustainability of our school.
