In the recently published ISI report, Woldingham School received praise for the wide range of educational and extra-curricular opportunities it offers students. Academically the school continues to provide a first-rate education for its girls, both in terms of examination results and all-round intellectual curiosity. Inspectors found that the girls were expected to work hard and that they have a positive attitude to study, which allows them to make the most of their opportunities.
The pastoral care of the pupils and the quality of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education were rated as outstanding; inspectors also noted that opportunities abound for pupils’ creativity in music, art, drama and design. When students were asked to describe their school, the words “caring” and “friendly” were frequently used, with one student commenting: “I feel very lucky to go to this school”. Woldingham’s successful partnership with parents and its links with the wider community were also noted by the inspectors. The quality of the relationship between staff and pupils, and between pupils, were deemed outstanding by inspectors who remarked that staff led by example and the girls supported one another, both formally and informally.
The inspectors highlighted some significant individual and group successes in a wide range of sports. These successes, combined with the excellent academic results and the strong extra-curricular programme, reflect the way in which the school enables girls to develop a wide range of talents which fully equip them for life in the wider world.
Headmistress Jayne Triffitt said: “I am particularly delighted by the comment that the inspectors noted the outstanding quality of relationships between staff and the pupils and the high standards of behaviour that were evident throughout the school. This excellent report is a credit to the dedicated and committed team of teachers and Governors at Woldingham.’’
