Woldingham School Sunday, 15th June at 7.30pm Auditorium
We are absolutely thrilled that Catriona is to come and give a recital at Woldingham. She left here after completing her ‘A’-levels in July 2007. In her seven years as a student at the school she gave many memorable performances including singing the role of Amahl’s mother in the one-act Christmas opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Menotti. Her final performance at Woldingham was on the occasion of the farewell concert given in honour of Miss Diana Vernon (previous headmistress) when Catriona absolutely brought the house down with her singing of ‘Mein Herr Marquis’ from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.
This year, she has taken time out to concentrate on, amongst other things, her vocal development with her teacher Barbara O’Neill. Miss O’Neill is one of our singing teachers at Woldingham.
Catriona takes up her place at Jesus College, Cambridge, where she has been awarded a Choral Scholarship, in October of this year. She will be reading Medieval and Modern Languages.
She is a musician and singer of exceptional maturity and this promises to be an outstanding concert.
The programme will include:
Handel: Oh had I Jubal's Lyre
Schubert: Lied der Mignon
Madeleine Dring: Seven Shakespeare Songs (Song Cycle)
Britten: Corpus Christi Carol
Mozart: Batti Batti
Irish Traditional: My Lagan Love
There will also be performances from one of our rising vocal stars from year 10, Charlotte La Thrope. Charlotte is also an outstandingly talented singer who will be singing music by Fauré, Loewe, Bach-Gounod and Bononcini.
The pianist will be Howard Dyer.
