Response to OFT Announcement

Office of Fair Trading Investigation Into Charitable Independent Schools
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has been investigating the exchange of financial information by charitable, independent schools including our own school. The OFT has issued Statements of Objections to about fifty schools, including Woldingham, indicating that they believe that there has been a breach of competition law.
As you can imagine, we are extremely disappointed by this announcement and we strongly refute the OFT’s implication that the sharing of information led to higher fees. We would reiterate that our intention is, and has always been, to keep fee increases to a minimum whilst providing a first class, all round education. As a charity we have no motive to raise more funds than are necessary for the school’s running and development. Read our full response

Bonfire Night & Guy Making
|
 |
Gunpowder, Treason and Plot
Every year the 5th of November is eagerly anticipated by all at Woldingham and this year was no exception. The fantastic firework display and barbeque organised by WPSA is a highlight of the schools social calendar. The Year 7s and 8s get together in their houses and take part in a fiercely competitive Guy making competition. The school becomes a hive of activity leading up to the judging of the 'Guys' and procession to light the bonfire. This year we had all the traditional elements of a Woldingham Bonfire Night with a twist; the gunpowder was certainly in evidence courtesy of WSPA, and the plot and treason came in the form of Year 9s special 'Guy' Mr Murtagh, a remarkable resemblance complete with clipboard!!!
